What is Central Point?
Central point is a direct access service for people that are homeless,sofa surfing, inappropriately housed or at risk of becoming homeless.
We provide a warm and safe environment, communal area, hot meals and drinks, bathing facilities, clothes washing facilities, a clothes store room, a locker room to store personal belongings safely, phone usage, a care-of address, and one to one assessments.
The service has its own service user forum, a service user representative and regular service meetings because we appreciate the input and guidance from those accessing our service to help guide us in our service delivery.
Rent Deposit Scheme
Central Point provides a rent bond deposit scheme for those that meet the required criteria, The rent bond scheme is an established service providing accommodation. The rent bond scheme works closely with landlords to help individuals obtain and maintain their own accommodation independently.
The rent bond panel meet weekly to review new and ongoing applications. They provide weekly updates to individuals. The rent bond scheme accepts applications from both central point internally and externally from other organisations.
What we can offer you.
Food & Drink
Tea and coffee are free and are available all day
We offer breakfast of cereal and toast, for 50p from 8.30am to 9am on week days.
We also offer a cooked lunch for £1 from 12pm to 1 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Hot snacks are available on Wednesdasys for 50p.
A cooked breakfast is available at weekends for £1, from 9am to 11.30am
Bath & Shower
We offer facilities for you to have a bath or shower at any time we are open. We supply toiletries and clean towels.
You can bring your clothes here to wash and dry them at no cost.
We have a clothing store room where you can get free clean clothes, shoes coats and underwear. all clothes have been kindly donated by are local community.
We have a secure store room in which you can safely leave your personal belongings.
We also have blankets and occasionally sleeping bags available for rough sleepers. Please ask a member of staff if you require this.
What services do we provide?
Assessments When you first access our service, we will book you in for an assessment to find out how best we can help you.
You can also pre-book this by phoning and making an appointment.
Advice We are able to offer advice on a wide range of issues including housing, substance misuse, mental health, physical health, traning, employment and benefits.
Referrals If you are in need of more specialised help, we can work with you to help refer to other services.
Bond Deposit Scheme If you meet our criteria, we maybe able to help you with a loan for a deposit on accommodation.
Phone We offer free phone usage to agencies, services and other organisations.
Care of Address You can use our address to receive personal post. We will record and safely store your post for your collection.
Big Issue The big issue operates from Buckland Community Centre. You can enquire about vending and being badged up to sell by visiting Buckland Community Centre, Mallins Road, PO2 7BL Thursday between 08.30 and 10.00.
